Experience Friday well Monday I guess…

So when I left on Friday I was not really in the mood to touch anything remotely related to the internet. Since becoming the half a web designer lets just say I have learned a few things and most of those things revolve around the internet being a pain in my ass.

I use to look at the internet as this beautiful tool sent from the universe to help me write papers and well not write paper, hello automatic next episode on Netflix!

But now I have been faced with the true side of the internet. The evil, soul sucking, computer smashing, hair pulling side of the internet that makes me want to scream. So thank you web based software for showing me your true colours. And you good sir, are no better than my cheating ex! *sticks tongue out*

Lets just say last week made me long for the days where my biggest issue was smashing my knee into a table or dropping it on my foot. Or falling out of a trailer backwards. Yes, that did happen and no, I am not proud of it. So here is to hoping this week is quick and a little bit better. Skipper gets home on Friday and I am trying to not be a raging ball of I’m going to smash the world but I make no promises!

Experience Friday. The Month Long Version.

So it has been a while! A long while at that. I was on my little blogging vacation for some personal reasons but I am back now and well lets get caught up! So the RV show went well-ish. It rained most of the weekend meaning that the sales guys were wet, cold cranky and sans customers. This also meant that there were A LOT of timmies runs and a very very quiet office which I had to stay at. Aside from answering the non-stop phone calls asking about the show I was in charge of getting the rest of the pictures needed for the website and working on anything that I needed to do for the web designer or the odd tasks that I had to do around the office.

I did learn a lot about how many of the business side of things run around here simply because I was the only one here to run them. A little later the accountant went on holidays to watch her daughter graduate and that means that yours truly became the accountant! Thankfully that ended quickly. Man I am not cut out for that job! Then just before my own vacation (I will be talking about this on Wednesday and the things I discovered out east) our web designer put in her two week notice so after I returned back to work on Monday I was informed that I would need to find a web designer hat and put it on damn fast. It has been a whirl wind week full of a lot of mistakes and learning as I go. Turns out Hootsuite, the web software that allows you to post and manage several social media accounts simultaneously, is not nearly as user friendly as many of my professors had lead on so god bless the good people of YouTube! I have learned a lot in the last little while about myself and many of the things I am capable off and just how fantastic and practical the education I am receiving really is. Everyday I have the chance to test the skills I have been learning over the last year. In other related news I can know set up and take down a table in a RV with out killing 95% of my body. Yes that does mean I am no longer a giant walking bruise but my dear readers my hands still get pinched every where on a very regular basis!

I Blinked…

So I blinked and it’s Friday again. This week has been nuts. Totally nuts. In the span of 24 hours I rode in a car, a bus, a truck and 2 trains and then an SUV. Yes ladies and gentleman, I am a business women on a mission! Lol god I crack myself up sometimes! My old rugby team needed a last minute chaperone on Sunday so I went up and took 2 trains to get home. That is how epic that story is. Anyway. I am grateful that time is passing quickly. With Skipper gone and everything I like the idea of time flying and him being home. You can read more about that here on Sunday. Just click the little blue here. After you’re done reading this though, right? šŸ˜€

Work has been good. I took Monday off to watch the games and in the real world you get to make up the time you take off so guess what my plans are for Saturday? Yep! You guessed it. My butt will be at my desk. I still am doing a lot of writing. I think I linked to the Facebook and Twitter pages in my last post but I will do that again just in case I didn’t! Things are weird around here. Getting ready for the show and all. Everyone one but me is running around like crazed fools and I’m just sitting at my desk typing up cool stuff. La de da! I do like my job. And I am finally getting more and more responsibility so that’s cool too. It is still weird though. Working an actual job. I mean it still pays minimum wage but aspects of the job I will be doing for the rest of my life. Crazy to think really. I got to write another article this week. Sadly by the time this goes up I won’t have the link so as soon as I get that I will throw it up here!

However, I do have a link to an article I wrote last week which was about a local RV rally. This one was a great start but I am far more excited about the other one. I won’t ruin the surprise though so stay posted and it will be up shortly! Working in a place where everyone is a solid 20-40 years older than you makes it hard to suggest things. Change can be scary apparently. This leads to large amounts of frustration on my end and keeping up with the Hammy theme makes me feel like this.

It is still my first job and I know I am a low lying summer student on the great food chain of the business world but it still can leave you a little discouraged.

Experience Friday Part 1…the super late edition..

So the finding time to blog bit is a heck of a lot harder than it sounds! You’d think typing out a couple hundred words and having it posted in a timely manner would not be that awfully challenging but between a full time job, a boyfriend who will shortly be disappearing for Navy training and a boat load (yea that was on purpose) of friends who have arrived home from various universities, it has made free time hard to find.

The first week at this job was interesting. I have never been that much of a camper and when I did go I always stayed in a tent. I can blow up an air mattress and unzip a sleeping back like you wouldn’t believe, but put me in a travel trailer and it all goes for shit.

Last week the big thing that I learned how to do is take one of those heavy and stupidly awkward dinning tables and turn it into a bed. Now, this took A LOT of practice. And when IĀ  say A LOT I mean like 16 tables later and I still slam them into my shins. (yes, I have the bruises to prove it.) That usually is the most exciting part of my day. I spend a ridiculous amount of time sitting at a desk sending emails containing a crap ton of photos to a web designer and entering all the little details about trailer weight online. Also, the phone literally never stops ringing.

Many of you may not know this about me but I am prone to breaking myself. So I was going to punch out for lunch and sure enough the door came flying open and my hand happened to be in the wrong spot and well I have yet again sprained my hand. That happened on Thursday. My third day on the job… It all added up to being a very interesting week.

The transition hasn’t been easy though. Especially with the whole boyfriend leaving soon, work taking up prime visitation hours thing. It was a rough week. I realized just how much I a) talk to him and b) miss him already. We didn’t get a lot of time to talk especially during the latter half of the week due to many many things. I’m not going to lie, it effected us. Between feeling left out and wanting to simply say goodnight the stress levels seemed to never end. It uh its going to take some serious getting use to but at least at the end of the day, it makes me appreciate all that he does for me that much more.
